Katrina’s Vegan Mess (Mobile optimized movie)

Katrina, a striking redhead from Eastern Europe, sits perfectly composed in an olive knit sweater dress and a chunky gold chain — right up until the first pie lands. What starts as calm, done-up elegance dissolves pie by pie and pour by pour into a cascading wreck of whipped cream, custard, and chocolate, soaking through the ribbed knit and pooling in her long hair. Katrina keeps her composure throughout, working the mess through her hair with her hands between hits, staying warm and amused even as the layers build past recognition. The scene closes with a full rinse under the shower, revealing the dress clinging to her body and the last of the mess washing away.

Behind the Scenes — a “vegan” first

This shoot marked a first for WAM Photography: Katrina, being vegan, only agreed to shoot on the condition that every mess ingredient was vegan-friendly — no dairy, no eggs, nothing derived from animals. That meant re-sourcing and re-mixing the entire mess kit from scratch, which is no small thing to figure out solo while also handling the model, two cameras, lighting, and the location.

It also led to a couple of honest mishaps. The photo camera got set up with the wrong exposure settings (flash ignored), so most of the stills came out overexposed — shooting RAW saved the set, but it was a scramble. And before the shoot even started, Katrina was seated in the shower cabin for easy cleanup while the water temperature got tested on the handshower — except the water was actually routed to the overhead rain head, so she got an unplanned early soak before a single pie was thrown. Not quite the pristine “before” shot planned, but it became part of the story of the scene instead.
